What kills me is this is the border between France and England. All of the narratives about escaping a war torn homeland don’t apply. They just want access to British benefits which I suppose are marginally better than French ones. That’s what he’s abandoning his child in the ocean for. Marginally better tax payer handouts.
A child left behind, injured in the water, while his father gets onto the boat and leaves French lifeguards to save him.
What kind of father does that?
Crashing waves. Chaos. A child struggling in the water, while his own father boards the boat rather than staying to protect him.
I believe scenes like this expose the failures surrounding these crossings, from the charities involved, to the actions of the French authorities, to the decisions being made by the British Government.
People are becoming increasingly angry about what they are seeing.
I genuinely fear that if confidence in the authorities continues to collapse, some people will eventually try to take matters into their own hands.
To be absolutely clear, I am not condoning, encouraging or supporting violence in any way, shape or form.

My daughter needed an MRI a while back (nothing serious) so her doctor scheduled her one at the local hospital. Later that day I got a call from Cigna and the guy on the line said they’d gotten the request, it was approved, but they wanted me to know that there was an MRI imaging center in my town that would charge me significantly less for the service, said it would be the same cost for them (Cigna) either way but my copay would be a lot less at this other place if I wanted to switch. They arranged everything for the appointment switch during the same phone conversation. Fantastic service from them

My working class boomer parents grew up in suburban NY & Manhattan, and bought a three bedroom house at 23 while working as a waitress & carpenter, respectively.
