Last Friday, I had the pleasure of hosting the RedotsClub South Africa Padel Day, co-hosted by the Gauteng AI Community.
It was a great opportunity to step away from the usual work, get on the court, connect with the community, and simply enjoy some good conversations and great energy.
From Swing. Smash. Serve. Celebrate. — we had a fantastic time playing padel, networking, unwinding, and strengthening the relationships within the RedotsClub South Africa community.
We also took the opportunity to celebrate @RedotPay 3rd anniversary, a great milestone and a reminder of how far the ecosystem has come.
A big thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to the energy of the day.

just wrapped Startup Village Borneo with @SolanaFndn and @socoe_s 🇲🇾
5 days, 32 projects, 100+ builders in Kuching, fueled by cheese naan and kek lapis.
my favourite part was watching first-time founders speak to random people on the streets to explain their product, hone their pitch, then walk in the next morning and present like they'd done it their whole lives.
two key takeaways that resonated even more after hearing @jacobkxyz of @Superscrypt on @BFMradio (timely interview - see🧵):
1 | the idea is not the bet, the builder is. some of the strongest protocols in crypto are a founder's third or fourth attempt. your project doesn't need to be right yet, it needs to exist.
2 | "we're looking for the hungry. that's the difference between you succeeding and sleeping on your friend's couch." Kuching had plenty of hungry (literally!) last week.
and the timing now is perfect: @colosseum's Crypto World's Fair opened this week (Sept 14 - Oct 12, $800K in prizes + $2.5M in funding on the line). it's multi-ecosystem this time, so the whole crypto world is in one arena.
Borneo was the warm-up, and now @superteamMY will see you on the global stage 🫡
