While they searched his house the police found "suspicious substances and items". The Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit was called, 153 properties were evacuated, and a 100m cordon remained in place overnight. Police are STILL there now. The 100m cordon has been removed, and while I was at the scene forensics arrived to continue an "ongoing in-depth search". What on EARTH did this 70 year-old man have in his house that forced the authorities to evacuate residents for so long? Crazy!
