I am deeply saddened by the passing of Ray Gaesser.
He was an incredible leader for our state, and Iowa benefited greatly from his experience, wisdom, and passion for bettering the lives of our farmers.
I am especially grateful to have worked with Ray through his service on my Agriculture Advisory Board. Lynette and I are praying for Ray’s family and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

CENTCOM Statement on Recently Fallen, Missing U.S. Service Members
TAMPA, Fla. — On July 17, two U.S. service members in Jordan were killed in action as U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) and partner forces defended against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks. Additionally, one service member is currently missing.
Four American service members were medically evacuated to Jordanian hospitals. They have since been discharged. Other personnel who were evaluated for minor injuries have returned to duty.
Out of respect for the families, CENTCOM will withhold additional information, including the identities of the fallen warriors, until 24 hours after the next of kin have been notified.

This summer, I welcomed my final cohort of interns as a Member of Congress.
It has been a joy to have so many talented Iowans, students, and young professionals engage in public service, experience the federal policymaking process, and help serve Iowa’s Fourth District.
Aubrey and Elle have played an essential role in our office. They have answered calls from constituents each day and ensured their voices and concerns are heard. I am incredibly grateful for their hard work, dedication, and service, and our entire team has been fortunate to have them with us.

Representing the largest corn-producing district in the nation, I have seen firsthand the challenges facing our farmers. That’s why I was proud to help champion and pass year-round E15 in the House.
Our work is far from done. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the Senate to get this bill across the finish line and signed into law.

The RuralSTAMINA Biomanufacturing Research initiative, led by Iowa State, has been named as a NSF Regional Innovation Engine. This initiative will receive $15 million over the next 2 years to launch the NSF Biomanufacturing Engine which will aim to accelerate the bioeconomy by creating new economic opportunities for producers and communities across Iowa and Nebraska.
This investment in creating new value-added products has the potential to grow to as much as $160 million over the next decade.
