25 years later, we will never forget. 🇺🇲
Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives who were ripped away from American families in a brutal act of terror, and we pause to honor the heroes who answered the call.
Like so many Americans, I have a vivid memory of that day. My brother was in New York City, and we were unable to reach him via cell phone for hours amongst the chaos and confusion. It wasn’t until hours later he walked across the bridge into New Jersey and made his way home that we learned he was safe.
We were fortunate. Many were not. Thousands of families never received a call back or had their loved ones return home.
There are now tens of millions of Americans who are too young to have experienced this day or much of what followed. They rely on the memories and stories of those who remember. That makes it all the more important for us to keep alive the memories of this day, and of the tragedy, courage, and unity we witnessed.
May God bless the families of the victims, the first responders who answered the call, and the servicemembers who stepped up in the aftermath. And may God bless the United States of America.
