I joined first responders, local officials, and the team at ShopRite in Garnerville for their Bag Hunger event to help support local families facing food insecurity. Thank you to the ShopRite employees, volunteers, and shoppers who pitched in. It was great to see our community come together to help neighbors in need.

Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East. It is a beacon of hope, opportunity, and freedom. The fact is they have sought to eliminate the threat posed by Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Iran.

My office had a great time participating in Senator Bill Weber’s annual Senior Fair at Rockland Community College. We spoke with hundreds of seniors, shared helpful resources, and assisted with constituent services. Thank you to Senator Weber for bringing everyone together!

As AI becomes more prevalent in our lives and has the ability to impact our national security and capital markets, we should be testing these systems to ensure they are safe to use and do not negatively impact the American people. This is why I believe there needs to be collaboration between the private and public sectors to make sure this technology is tested and able to be used safely.

My Democratic colleague @RepJoshG and I introduced the Stop Rogue AI Act to direct government agencies to develop appropriate standards and rules for rogue agents and bots. This isn’t about stopping AI or stifling innovation. It is about making sure we can safely deploy AI.

I joined the Rockland Fire District Meeting to discuss the challenges facing our volunteer fire service here in the Hudson Valley. Our volunteer firefighters put their lives on the line to protect our communities, and I’ll always stand with the men and women who step up to serve.

The Sheridan Gorman Buddy Bench has arrived in Washington, D.C., serving as a lasting tribute to Sheridan’s outgoing, inclusive, and kindhearted spirit. Sheridan was an 18-year-old college student from Yorktown who was shot and killed in Chicago by an illegal immigrant earlier this year. Throughout her life, Sheridan had a gift for making others feel seen. At her elementary school’s Buddy Bench, she looked out for children who were feeling lonely and became known as the “guardian” of the bench, always making sure no one was left without a friend. In June, Sheridan’s mother, Jessica, testified before Congress following her daughter’s death and fulfilled her promise to bring a Buddy Bench to Congress. I was honored to be the first member of Congress to sit with the Gorman family on the Buddy Bench and honor Sheridan’s memory and all Angel Families. This bench will serve as a lasting reminder of Sheridan’s selflessness, kindness, and inclusiveness.

My office was honored to join the 7th Annual Prayer Walk in Carmel this weekend. The walk was dedicated to NYPD Officer Stephen Patrick Driscoll of Carmel, a 9/11 hero who died while rescuing people at the World Trade Center. Thank you to everyone who came out to pay their respects. We will never forget September 11, 2001.

New York State’s decision to shut down Indian Point has had consequences that can’t be ignored. Instead of lowering emissions, the closure has contributed to greater reliance on fossil fuels and increased emissions downstate - something New York’s own Department of Public Service now acknowledges. Reopening the Indian Point Energy Center would restore reliable, affordable, carbon-free energy while reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and lowering emissions. That’s what New Yorkers deserve.

Last weekend, the Town of Clarkstown dedicated the intersection of New York Avenue and Butler Street in Congers in honor of Congers Fire Department life member George O. Sandfield. At the time of his death, George had been a member of Alert Hook, Ladder & Engine Co. No. 1 for 44 years. He suffered cardiac arrest while standing by at the firehouse, waiting for the trucks to return from an alarm. He passed away on December 11, 1987. This is a well deserved recognition of George O. Sandfield, who dedicated his life to serving and protecting the residents of Congers and the Town of Clarkstown.

I was honored to join the Policemen’s Benevolent Association of Rockland County for their 100th Anniversary Celebration. For a century, the PBA has represented and supported the men and women who keep our communities safe. Thank you to everyone who has served, and congratulations on 100 years of service and dedication to Rockland County! I was also honored to recognize Nicola Fristaci as a Veteran Changemaker for his service to our county.

I was honored to attend Mass at Our Lady of Shkodra Church in Hartsdale alongside Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti. It was an important opportunity to come together in faith and celebrate the strong Albanian-American community here in the Hudson Valley. I’m grateful for the opportunity to speak with the Prime Minister and fellow community members and to celebrate our shared values, faith, and heritage.

My office had the pleasure of visiting the Rhoda Bloom Kosher Food Pantry at JFS Rockland to see firsthand the incredible work being done to support families throughout our community. Thank you to the dedicated staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to ensure our neighbors have access to nutritious food and the resources they need.

As Jewish communities here in the Hudson Valley and around the world observe Yom Kippur, may this solemn day provide an opportunity for reflection, renewal, and forgiveness. Wishing all who observe a peaceful and meaningful Yom Kippur.

It was a pleasure joining Worldwide Community First Responder for their 15th Anniversary & Fundraising Gala. For 15 years, WCFR has worked to save lives through health education, first aid training, and empowering communities here at home and around the world. Congratulations to Dr. Jacqueline Cassagnol and the entire WCFR team on this incredible milestone, and thank you for all you do!

I was proud to host a meeting of my Veterans Advisory Council, bringing together veterans and community leaders to discuss the issues impacting those who have served our nation. I’m grateful to the members of the Council for their continued service and commitment to making sure our veterans have the support and resources they deserve.
