Her name is Logan Federico. She was a bright young soul murdered by Alexander Dickey who had 39 prior charges, including 25 felonies. He should have never been on the streets in South Carolina! We will remember her name!

In July a burglar is released back into the public without monetary bail. Three months later, that same burglar breaks into another house and an innocent man is dead. Color me surprised. WE DO NOT HAVE TO KEEP LIVING LIKE THIS. It’s time to pass Logan’s Law and hold these soft on crime judges accountable. I am praying for a full recovery for Dr. Evans’ wife, Gina, and am very grateful his kids escaped this vicious attack unharmed. We deserve better from our justice system.

When violence or tragedy strikes, law enforcement shouldn’t have to second guess if they have the resources to respond. It was great to tour the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office and see how the $868,000 in community project funding my team and I secured for their office will help them improve their service to the community. These men and women are heroes, and I proudly back the blue. 🚔👮‍♂️ This funding will improve community safety and allow the sheriffs office to upgrade the resources and equipment they’ve needed to improve for years. Did you know that nearly 28 million cases of beverages are distributed across the Southeast right here from the Pee Dee? 🥤 I had the chance to tour Carolina Canners, an independent Pepsi bottler and beverage production cooperative headquartered in Cheraw. CCI employs more than 600 people in the area and continues to expand their presence bringing new jobs and new investments to the community. Jail administrators across the state navigate the most challenging, high-stress environments 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. I was grateful to speak at the annual conference of South Carolina Jail Administrators in Myrtle Beach this week and learn more about what they are doing to strengthen rehabilitation and improve safety in South Carolina jails. Too often, when we think of public safety our minds immediately go to police officers who work to get bad guys off the street. Public safety takes teamwork, and our correctional officers and jail administrators wear a similar badge as they ensure that law enforcement officers have reliable facilities to hold offenders accountable and navigate rehabilitation.

Last month, I urged Secretary Lutnick to grant these exemptions and advance state-led management efforts of the recreational red snapper fishery in the South Atlantic. For more than a decade, anglers have made earnest conservation efforts to rebuild the red snapper stock. Deputy Solicitor Jacob Godwin was more than a public servant. He dedicated his entire life to leaving places better than he found them. Above all, Jacob was a servant leader whose impact reached far beyond any title, and I join his loved ones in mourning his passing. Earlier this year, Jacob was named a recipient of the Order of the Palmetto. It was a fitting tribute to his service to the Pee Dee and the state of South Carolina.
