We have a tremendous amount of work ahead of us, but I’m more confident than ever about the future of this league and our path to 16 teams by 2034.

Watching Week 2 of the @NFL today, there has been a lot of sloppy, inconsistent football.
Player and coaching development are more important than ever and I believe the current college NIL system is already affecting the quality of play.
That’s exactly why the @TheUFL matters. As we grow toward 16 teams over the next decade, we have a real opportunity to build something special and to become an increasingly important part of developing the future players, coaches and officials.
The UFL isn’t just exciting spring football. It’s a proving ground and over time, it will become a critical part of the future of year-round professional football.

Pat and I had an incredible, lengthy meeting with Kentucky’s future U.S. Senator, @RepAndyBarr. I could not have left more impressed, encouraged or excited.
We had a very open and honest discussion about the great game of horse racing, the great people of Kentucky who make it possible, and the importance of Kentucky maintaining its leadership position not only nationally, but potentially globally.
We spoke candidly and bluntly about the serious issues plaguing our sport today from the declining foal crop, the lack of leadership and vision, HISA, CAWs, aftercare, and the need for fairness and opportunity for every participant including small breeders, small owners, small racetracks and everyday horseplayers.
We also discussed the enormous potential horse racing still has if it is properly managed, properly led and prepared for the future.
We left aligned on so many important issues and plan to speak and meet frequently going forward.
Andy Barr won’t just be great for Kentucky and Kentucky horse racing, he will be a strong national voice for our entire industry.

How do we know owners aren’t bidding up their own horses, buying them back and inflating the value of their bloodstock???
How do we know stallion farms aren’t using their tough guy “agent” to bid up their own yearlings either to manufacture headline sales or pump up their stallion’s yearling average???
Maybe I’ll bid one of my own stallion’s yearlings up to $10 million, buy it back and advertise the highest yearling average in Kentucky history.
According to Keeneland Sales, that’s perfectly acceptable!!!!!

We are hours away from the first hip entering the ring @keenelandsales September.
Forty-eight hours ago, I disclosed that a horse I bought last year for $500,000 had first been signed for by an agent at $900,000, then somehow came back to me.
That post sent shockwaves through the industry because this isn’t just about one horse or one transaction. It raises serious questions about cheating, corruption and the integrity of the entire sales process.
I have demanded answers from Keeneland’s senior leadership and Keeneland’s @jockeyclub Trustees.
So far, silence.
If this isn’t addressed before that first hip walks into the ring today, how can I, or any buyer, bid with confidence??? Are we buying horses, or are we playing a rigged game where only certain people know the rules???
These industry leaders love preaching “transparency.”
Stop preaching. Start practicing.

As my team and I prepare for the Keeneland September Sale, I have two major concerns.
First, after studying these books for more than 15 years, I hope the physicals look better than the pedigrees.
Outside of a few elite proven stallions and first-year and second-year sires, Books 1 and 2 are extremely top-heavy. For two decades, America has sold many of its greatest Grade 1 and Breeders’ Cup mares to Japan. Their daughters now have daughters, and Japan’s pedigrees keep getting stronger.
Meanwhile, we have weakened our foundation. We have weakened our female families. We have weakened the American broodmare band, and we have hurt the breed.
Big numbers at the top don’t mean the overall breed is healthy. I am not impressed with the quality or diversity of this catalog.
My second concern is transparency.
Last year, Hip 5, an Uncle Mo filly and full sister to Seismic Beauty, was reported sold for $900,000 after I stopped bidding around $800,000. The ticket was signed by an agent.
Thirty minutes later, the consignor offered me the horse for $800,000. I offered $500,000. They declined, then called back and accepted.
I own the horse. I paid $500,000. Yet one year later, Keeneland still publicly reports a $900,000 sale, even though Keeneland invoiced me for $500,000.
Who was the original buyer??? Who authorized that bid??? Why did the transaction collapse immediately??? Was someone trying to push me to $950,000??? How many other reported prices differ from what was actually paid???
The agent who signed the ticket must be held accountable and explain exactly what happened.
But the ultimate responsibility sits with Keeneland’s president, senior management and trustees. They knew about this. I was crystal clear that I wanted this changed ASAP.
They refused to correct the public record.
And let’s be honest: Keeneland is the @jockeyclub. Same leaders. Same bullshit.
Three leading Jockey Club stewards, Everett Dobson, Bill Lear and Bill Farish, are also Keeneland trustees. They constantly preach transparency. It’s time to practice it.
I have spent between $10 million and $20 million at this sale annually for each of the past 10 years. Buyers are investing serious money and putting their trust in Keeneland.
I am demanding a full investigation, a public explanation and a corrected record.
We deserve answers. Every buyer deserves transparency.

I wouldn’t call this breaking news compared to the Marshall Gramm scandal and now the Keeneland sales scandal. I can confirm that this is accurate, but far from scandalous.
I met Jake almost 15 years ago when he was in his mid 20s in a low level position at Taylor Made. I loved his passion for the game.
Before I knew him, met him or even knew how old he was, he got a hold of my email and started emailing me before big races just with a simple: “Good luck today Mr. Repole.”
I didn’t know if he was 25 or 65 at the time. But I was always appreciative of the nice messages.
When I finally met Jake @westbloodstock, I found out he was in his mid 20s at the time and after a few years, I gave him an opportunity to sell the best mare I had at that time, Unlimited Budget. I wasn’t worried whether he was qualified or not qualified, or whether he would get me the best price for the horse, I respected the fact that a young, aggressive, hustling kid in racing was trying to make a name for himself.
Jake West resigned from Repole Stable in August.
Honestly, I was surprised because Jake has been such an intregal part of the success of the Repole Stable team for years.
Jake has an amazing story I truly admire, from someone who had no ties to this industry and was from outside of Lexington. To go from a kid at Taylor Made sending emails to “Mr. Repole” to the success he’s been part of with my stable, and with Mr. & Mrs. Low, and to now have a prestigious senior management role at an historic farm like Claiborne is an amazing accomplishment.
I’m sure living in Lexington and working for someone as outspoken as me must have weighed heavily in his decision. I respect that. I have two stallions at Claiborne, 20 broodmares at least, and probably 50 total horses. I can truly say, if it wasn’t for Jake West, I would not have had this relationship with Claiborne Farm.
Sometimes you raise kids and they go away to college. 😂
That’s the way I’m looking at this. Jake West may not be a part of Repole Stable, but he will ALWAYS be a part of the Repole family. ❤️🙏
