This week’s summit between President Trump and General Secretary Xi represents an important opportunity to hold the Chinese Communist Party accountable for providing Iran with satellite data it used to target the American military in the Middle East, buying Iranian oil and selling semiconductors used in Iranian weapons. It also represents an opportunity to reinforce deterrence in the Western Pacific by standing by the $11.1 billion in arms sales to Taiwan announced by the Trump Administration in 2025 and not backing off the additional $14 billion in arms sales to Taiwan presently under consideration.

Today, I welcomed the @FinancialCmte Subcommittee on Financial Institutions to the Bluegrass for a field hearing on the Main Street Capital Access Act. This bill would expand access to capital that fuels the American dream for families, farmers, and small businesses. Thank you to @eku for hosting and @RepTroyDowning and @Rep_Davidson for attending.

WATCH: @RepAndyBarr questions Mr. Hawkins on how important community banks are to unlocking affordable housing, to which he answered: "It's critical that we find local community banks who understand the market and want to participate in that market, as opposed to some large metro market. What we've seen recently is we've been able to secure these housing credits and have had a hard time at a national level marketing those large institutions. And in every case, when we go to community banks, they're excited about finding ways to serve their communities. They want to see this housing built." 📺⬇️

Today in Kentucky, I joined @RepAndyBarr and the Financial Institutions Subcommittee for a field hearing on the Main Street Capital Access Act. Community banks are essential to rural America, especially in Montana, where they support family farms across our state. We talked about cutting unnecessary red tape and reversing consolidation. We also discussed how to expand access to capital for small businesses and local communities. The House passed the bill in July with bipartisan support.
