An honest mistake shouldn’t cost someone their military career. A service member trying to check a supplement bought at GNC can get a false “not prohibited” result simply by misspelling an ingredient in the military’s database by one letter.
We’re urging the Secretary of War to clarify the rules and give commanders flexibility to handle honest first offenses so no one loses a career over a nutritional supplement or a typo.
For years, courageous Americans serving in our military have faced disciplinary measures and separation for accidentally consuming banned substances on an unclear and ever-changing list.
We’re not talking about illegal drugs here: nutritional supplements and ordinary medicines, some even sold at the PX, have gotten well-meaning service members in serious trouble.
@Rep_Davidson and I are urging @SecWar to review DoW policies and adopt much-needed reforms to clarify rules for our warfighters, end unjust disciplinary measures, and bring clarity to Pentagon policies.

A local business employs people in its community and serves the people who live there. The Main Street Capital Access Act makes it easier and faster for that business to borrow from a bank in the same community.
At today's field hearing, we heard from local bankers who are doing that lending under rules built for the largest institutions in the country. This bill scales those requirements to the size of the bank, so more of their resources and time go into strengthening Main Street.
