Lose it and your way of life is gone. The Iran conflict was a war of choice now. Wait a year or two for an Iranian nuke and it becomes something far worse... Dollar dominance is the foundation of the American empire. That dominance rests on oil sold in dollars. A nuclear Iran would price Persian Gulf energy (20% of global production) in whatever currency it chooses—almost certainly not the dollar. As Nixon said: “The indispensable ingredient for world leadership is the will to power.” Either the U.S. enforces the dollar, or something else replaces it...and the U.S. faces hyperinflation & revolution.
