Jack Smith wandering around in a “NO KINGS” shirt is the kind of bullshit satire reality writes when it wants to humiliate a man.
Because while this sanctimonious asshole was advertising his supposed fear of concentrated power, his operation was vacuuming up records tied to 17 Republican lawmakers, as many as 44 members of Congress, 17 news organizations, nearly 50 journalists, Trump lawyers, campaign officials, Susie Wiles, and nearly 5,000 donor checks.
No Kings.
Just a federal dragnet sprawling across an entire political movement.
Smith’s team tracked Wiles’ phone activity while she was helping run Trump’s 2024 campaign. They could see who she contacted, when she contacted them, and how long the calls lasted. Jim Jordan explained why that matters: with enough metadata, “you can pattern a person’s life.”
That is creepy as hell.
No Kings.
Just the future White House chief of staff, members of Congress, lawyers, journalists, donors, and campaign operatives swept into the same goddamn surveillance machine.
Then came the secret shit. Lawmakers say they were denied the chance to challenge subpoenas involving protected congressional communications. Marsha Blackburn says Smith’s team secretly grabbed her records and used a nondisclosure order to keep her in the dark.
And then Smith’s prosecutors met John Brennan at CIA headquarters after Smith was asked whether he had received Brennan’s “consultation or counsel.”
No Kings.
Just secret subpoenas. Hidden surveillance. Political metadata. Congressional records. Donor records. Press communications. CIA meetings.
All swirling around the leading Republican candidate for president.
And after that mountain of invasive bullshit, Jack Smith throws on a shirt warning America about unchecked power.
That isn’t irony.
That is fucking performance art.
The shirt should have said:
NO KINGS. Just unaccountable prosecutors with your phone records.
