In Ceuta, I spoke with fighting-age Moroccan men who told me they were trying to come to Britain.
Is it any surprise when they know if they break into Britain they’ll be rewarded with free food and housing?
When they later apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain, they do not even face the modest barriers that legal immigrants do.
They pay no application fee.
They do not have to prove they can speak English.
They do not have to demonstrate any knowledge of British culture.
They even can apply while claiming unemployment benefits.
More than 180,000 asylum recipients are already on Universal Credit.
Let me repeat that.
Someone can break into Britain on a small boat. They can be housed in a free hotel. Once their asylum claim is approved, they can go straight onto benefits.
They can then apply for ILR without doing ANYTHING to prove that they belong here at all - and access every benefit available to citizens as a result.
All at the expense of hard working Brits.
No wonder illegal migrants cross the whole of Europe to come here.
The solution is simple: cut off ALL the benefits and begin mass deportations.
That is what a Reform government will do.
