Is this the “new, accountable, transparent”
@ColumbusPolice that
@cbuscitycouncil and
@MayorGinther promised us?
Daimon Scales lied about being sick, went to a bar during his work hours, got in a fight with a bouncer and threatened him, repeatedly yelled the “N word”, punched a female special duty officer and called her a bitch, and then drove home drunk. That’s what the investigation, that took AN ENTIRE YEAR, proved and what we saw and heard on video.
Chief Bryant heard that, held a hearing with the officer and decided it’s no big deal, gave him back his badge and gun, and put him back to work.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Alli, who was maliciously defamed by Bryant’s water carrier
@1stACPotts, was completely and totally exonerated by a thorough investigation completed by IAB. The investigation clearly demonstrated that Potts lied when she accused Alli of making a statement to her during a phone call. Alli disputed it and Potts admitted in her IAB interview that he didn’t say what she accused him of. Alli remains relieved of duty and not at work. Chief Bryant returned Scales to duty, but leaves Alli without his gun and badge.
If what Daimon Scales did isn’t disqualifying from being a CPD officer, and if an Assistant Chief can lie about a Deputy Chief, keep him relieved of duty, and not be held accountable for her lies, what was the point of all the legislation passed by Council, the Inspector General and the Civilian Police Review Board?
