If you are an American and you have grieved, acknowledged momentarily silence and respect for the 18 (that we know of) Americans who have died in the Iranian war and yet think nothing of the 3375 Iranians that have died in the same war then I would like to inform you that you don't carry within yourself empathetic compassion. Not even for the Americans. Compassion is not selective. What you have is favoritism. And this is the newly anointed root of American culture. We are no longer a culture where values are pledges for what is right or wrong. Actions, behaviors, choices, regards, sentiments only exist now in what one holds particular interests for. There was an uproar when President Obama wore a tan suit addressing an assembly regarding National security topics in 2014. The conservatives lost their shit. But it's perfectly acceptable for 18 Americans to return to the land of the free with their bodies lying dead in coffins being greeted by a narcissistic president of the United States wearing a baseball cap (cue Maga to offer their justification and rationalization for this comment). Imagine if Clinton did that or Obama did that. Imagine also the Obama Kennedy Memorial Performing Arts Center or the Clinton Kennedy Memorial Arts Center. The Republicans would call for decapitation such as the republican at last week's midterms convention who shouted, “kill the Democrats,” ignored by speaker Ted Cruz. As I said, there is no correct or incorrect measure of behavior in America anymore. We can no longer teach our children with a lasting impact of such understanding. Appropriate learning is overshadowed by the actions of the American people who do not think in terms of good productivity versus negligible outcome. The starting point has become a choice between oppression or resistance.
If my nephew or one of my nieces were to die in conflict and be greeted by the commander in chief wearing a baseball cap, I would be arrested.
