The Prime Minister was right to walk away from the negotiating table last night. I believe Canadians are united in this crucial moment, on this crucial point: no deal is better than a bad deal. Accepting a deal that would lock in pointless, destructive tariffs and undermine our ability to regulate big tech would have been disastrous for our workers, industries and sovereignty. PM Carney read the room by rejecting the Americans’ offer. Wab Kinew got it exactly right — the President is weak and cannot be trusted to abide by an agreement. We should stand firm, knowing it’s what the vast majority of Canadians want our government to do. But what happens next matters. We are not out of this yet. You can count on New Democrats to be a voice for swift and substantial aid to affected workers and industries. This is also a moment to rapidly transition to an economy that is more independent, that prioritizes housing, health, climate and the cost of living. What brings us together and makes us strong is how we take care of each other in hard times. That’s the Canada the NDP will fight for in this crisis moment and those to come.

For everyone blaming this on PM Carney; Seriously, if you actually want to understand what just happened with this trade deal, go read Trump’s The Art of the Deal. This last minute switcheroo isn’t some shocking new negotiating strategy. Trump literally built his reputation around creating pressure, pushing for maximum leverage and making moves when the other side is under pressure. And that’s basically what just happened. We were told a deal was close. Then, at the last minute, the terms changed. Carney looked at the new demands and said no. Trump’s administration says Canada walked away. Canada says the U.S. changed the deal and put forward terms that were unfair and uneconomic. So when someone tells me, “Trust Trump. He’ll get the better deal,” my question is: Have you actually been paying attention to how this guy negotiates? I’ll take the guy sitting across the table who is actually looking at the numbers and Canada’s long term economic interests over someone who thinks every Trump pressure tactic is some kind of 4D chess. Read the fucking book. Then decide who’s actually playing whom.

This commentary offers a clear, powerful statement of why freedom of speech is at the heart of democracy and must be defended, whether the speaker is Charlie Kirk or Jimmy Kimmel, MAGA supporters or MAGA opponents.

Our democracy is not self-executing. It depends on us all as citizens, regardless of our political affiliations, to stand up and fight for the core values that have made this country the envy of the world.

Senator Elissa Slotkin just asked Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth if he's been given the order to shoot at unarmed protesters. Hegseth struggles to simply answer the question, and instead goes on the attack. Slotkin is having none of it.

To insult two highly respected and free thinking politicians like this is disgraceful. It just shows how far standards in society have fallen. Anyone reposting this insulting photograph should feel utterly ashamed. 😡

Buying democracy, one signature at a time. In the 1980s, Indian politicians handed out transistor radios to poor villagers for votes. In 2025 America, Elon Musk is giving $1 million prizes for signing petitions. Same game, bigger budget. Only now it’s wrapped in flags and Silicon Valley swagger. This isn’t democracy, it’s casino politics. It reveals: – A system that allows vote-baiting – A populace denied political education – And elites with no scruples, weaponizing wealth like slot machines Democracy dies when power can be bought and critical thinking is outbid.

Trump isn’t interested in a discussion. It was already attempted with Danielle Smith. It’s not about fentanyl or borders… Trump wants to ruin Canada.

Today , that pompous POS trump, in an open meeting, told Maine Governor Mills she better comply with his rules or she would get no funding First of all that damn misogynist bully as usual picked on a woman. It doesn’t matter if you agree with either of them. That is simply not the least bit presidential. She said “see you in court” What an absolute asshole he is

Ok, here goes, I’m tired and fed up. It’s crazy to read all the gasping and carrying on while we knew this was the plan. This is not entertainment, it’s disgraceful and I no longer wanna read any more whining and discussing this nightmare. We knew this was going to happen and all we seem to be able to muster is a gasp or two and a clutching of pearls. Stand back and watch them burn it down. Before it’s all over it will look like the pulverized Gaza Strip and Ukraine. Fuck it all!

Regarding Canada: 🇨🇦 I've been going there since the 80s. They love and adore America. Amazing people, nature, cities, food, education, healthcare, natural resources... and much more. They've always got our back but… They also quietly know that we are a bouillabaisse of dysfunction, a cesspool of corruption… and the punchline of many of their jokes. They want NOTHING to do with becoming the 51st state. So Donny… please stop using Canada, Greenland and the Gulf of Mexico as distractions while you desecrate the constitution, dismantle healthcare, social security, education and the environment while fleecing America with Apartheid Elon.

On a daily, sometimes hourly, basis, Elon Musk claims that his team of fiscal commandos has cut more waste. But our review of official data shows that Mr Musk’s efforts have scarcely made a dent in spending econ.st/4gI71zM
