Kevin Skelton, who lost his wife and mother of four Philomena in the Omagh bombing, has said he is “finished” with a public inquiry into the atrocity following the delivery of video evidence from a senior Garda officer.
It came as a barrister said the inquiry intends to “seek answers from the Republic of Ireland” about “outstanding questions” relating to the theft of the car used in the 1998 bombing.

What a journey for this young man.
As an Ulster Protestant, I initially became a Nationalist out of sheer frustration with the piss poor, intransigent, Unionist politicians. Their ignorance, crassness and vulgarity was an embarrassment, and it made me question and research the validity of the Union. Of course the minute you do any research you realise that the British shouldn't be governing any part of Ireland.

A convicted murderer walked out of prison on release after a judge found the review process wasn’t fair. Prison staff then declined the chance the judge gave them to fix it. Killer absconded. And first time around the Assembly was not given the full picture.
Naomi Long: “I take exception to the suggestion that I misled the House… I was fully transparent… with full candour.”
Then: “What I said was based on the information available to me at the time. There is now additional information.”
That doesn’t wash. Incorrect information still misleads the House. Whether it was incompetence, incomplete briefings or something else, MLAs were still misled. The judgment made that clear.
The Department of Justice has to be led with the highest standards of probity and candour. Between this and the Law Society mess, the rule of law is taking a battering here in NI.
