The Board of Deputies and @JLC_uk have conveyed concerns to Andy Burnham's team following his statement yesterday. We welcome his commitment to tackling antisemitism, but it cannot be confronted without addressing all its drivers, including extreme hatred of Israel that builds on one-sided portrayals of the situation in Gaza and ignores the role of Hamas.

Last Thursday I attended the Liverpool Jewish Forum & heard guest speaker, & my old school friend, Shadow Attorney General Lord @DXW_KC. He reminisced about life in Liverpool, told how he became Shadow Attorney General & to be proud to be Jewish. A great #JewishCultureMonth event

🧵There is nothing more culturally Jewish than Friday Night Dinner. As part of Jewish Culture Month (16 May–16 June 2026, during the Hebrew month of Sivan), Friday Night Dinner offers the perfect opportunity to share the warmth, rhythm and depth of Jewish life with others. 1/5

🧵An attack on Britain’s Jewish community is an attack on all of us and on our way of life. Today’s attack might have taken place in London but it affected every Jewish person and community in the UK. I have many friends who are Jewish and many friends who are not Jewish. 1/3

The Jewish community does not want to live behind high walls with police protection, we just want to live our lives the way everyone else does. It is time my friends who are not Jewish stand up and speak out for the Jewish community. 2/3

Each terror attack on the Jewish community will affect the whole country. I hope and pray that those who were injured in today’s stabbing attack make a full recovery. I am proud to be British, I am proud to be Jewish. 3/3

Powerful moving speeches were delivered from the First Lady of the State of Israel, Michal Herzog, @RobbieRinder and Rabbi Daniel Walker. We watched live from Israel as the ambulances were dedicated. May Melvin & Adrian's memories be for a blessing. 2/2
