They’re being voted down because the underlying system of how we fund local services/education is fundamentally broken & unsustainable, and that broken system forces even the most financially sound towns into making false choices. A cap without structural reform will do the same.
🏠CAP THE PROPERTY TAX: Town budgets are being voted down in local referendums around the state as residents protest property tax increases.
In Colchester, where residents voted Tuesday in a second budget referendum after the first budget was voted down, I re-iterated my four-point plan to reform and CAP your property taxes for good.
Families and businesses are feeling the weight of the nation’s 3rd-highest property taxes and are standing up to demand leadership. When I am governor, we will start making Connecticut more affordable right away.

Nine years ago, I quit smoking. It’s one of the hardest things I've done in my life, and I did it way later than I should have, especially since it's what my dad died of.
But as the anniversary came and went this weekend, I was thinking about how glad I am every day that I did.
