That was the most ridiculous argument I have ever heard. He in one breath says the fire bombing was perpetrated by Iran and next says because of that we need more antisemitism laws in Australia. Make it make sense. This is an immigration issue, not an opportunity to implement the ihra definition of antisemitism where the political ideology of Zionism is falsely conflated with the religion of Judaism. There are many more Christian zionists than Jewish and it would mean karaite Jews and satmar Hasidic are antisemitic because they oppose Zionism, which is an absurd suggestion. The Australian people reject more censorship, particularly of political speech, as confirmed in Wertheim v Haddad [2025] FCA 720. We need real solutions addressing the real issue, not knee jerk reactions, to ensure this does not happen again.
