Trump wants to eliminate a tax incentive for employers to hire foreigners over American grads, and this is how the shameless whores in the Narrative industry are framing it.
The Trump administration proposed charging universities up to $100,000 for each international student they recommend to work in the U.S. after graduation, a cost that experts say could be passed on to students. wapo.st/4hOfFzy

Occasionally you stumble over things like this that are so ugly and sociopathic that you realize no middle ground is possible.
The decision to carry and raise a child can shape every part of a person’s financial life. @JessicaValenti joins Vox’s @AsteadWH to explain why abortion belongs in Democrats’ affordability message and what the party misses when it treats reproductive rights as a social issue.

The basis of Christian social thinking is a cola advertisement
The basis of Christian social thinking is Genesis & Matthew: we are all made in the image of God, we must love each other as God. Not easy, not a requirement to do stupid things, but the message is clear: Christianity rejects racism. That is my final word on the matter!

Next time you go to a sacred historic site like this one, think of sister missionaries dancing to a song about having sex in the back seat of a car... ... or am I being a bully right now?
This is the home in Kirtland, Ohio where Joseph translated the Book of Abraham papyrus. From that very table with the white tablecloth. (It’s THE table) Witness statements claim that Joseph had so much papyrus, that it filled this entire room when rolled out and even went through the doors into other rooms. Makes sense now that I’ve been in the building. According to other historical sources, they know that’s where the table would have sat as well, and Joseph would have sat in front of that window at that table.

Gambling and pornography both can become shortcut illusions for people who feel shut out of the real thing. Capital in one case, marriage and real intimacy in the other. Especially when comparing themselves to both Church and world culture.
I don't know if anyone else caught this, but I think President Oaks's "producers vs. consumers" point Oct 2025 General Conference and President Christofferson's gambling talk this conference are part of the same argument. And I think it goes way beyond gambling.

“Production” is not just a virtue; it is an ecosystem of skills, tools, mentors, kin, trust, shared work and mutual aid. If you never inherited or saw that culture, you may not even know there are alternatives to purchasing what you need.

That’s the risk with a “home-centered” ecosystem if the Church-supported side doesn’t make those options visible and usable. Homes can only draw on what they can access. Otherwise purchasing becomes the default because no other way is visible.

I don't think the point is that everyone needs to go back to agrarianism. The important part is when Oaks says consumption doesn't require the same degree of family organization and cooperation that production did.

And obviously that is easier said than done. You can't just decide to become a "productive household" when housing, work, school, childcare, transportation, and even where extended family lives are all organized around a completely different system.

That's probably the real point. If we want stronger families, telling people to value family more won't be enough. We have to rebuild some of the economic and social conditions that let families actually function as productive, interdependent units in the first place.
