An ICE officer shot and injured a man in North Austin this afternoon.
The man was taken to a hospital.
The shooting occurred near West Anderson Lane and Research Boulevard, where a major law-enforcement response followed.
Video from the scene shows officers still present.
People at the scene are claiming the man was shot in the back.
THAT HAS NOT BEEN VERIFIED.
Authorities have not yet publicly explained what led to the shooting, how many shots were fired, or released body-camera footage.

New video appears to show an ICE officer approach the wounded man’s car after the shooting.
The officer looks inside.
Then walks away.
We now know the man had been shot and was later hospitalized in serious but stable condition.
What the video does NOT tell us:
Was he responsive at that moment?
Had officers already assessed his condition?
Was medical assistance already being summoned?
Why did the officer walk away rather than immediately render aid?
THE VIDEO DOESN’T ANSWER THOSE QUESTIONS.

VIDEO UPDATE:
A Facebook livestream captured the moments surrounding the ICE shooting in Austin.
Sirens approach.
Tires screech.
An officer exits an unmarked SUV and moves toward a blue Toyota Corolla.
Then:
THREE GUNSHOTS.
The driver was Wilber Rafael Garces Perez, a 28-year-old DoorDash worker who was shot in the torso.
He survived and was later taken into federal custody.
The video gives us something we didn't have before:
THE MOMENTS IMMEDIATELY SURROUNDING THE SHOOTING.
But it still does not establish why the officer fired.
That makes the missing evidence even more important:
RELEASE THE BODYCAM.
RELEASE THE DASHCAM.
SHOW WHAT HAPPENED BEFORE THE SHOTS.
