I read this thread. @cpstalions is correct about time management, formations, and passing routes. BUT!! What’s NOT discussed?? #19’s exhausting inability to make reads expected of QB’s at this level. OC has been restricted in run plays since #19 simply can’t make a read, pull the ball and run making himself a threat & thereby forcing the D’s respect & allowing the running backs & OL an opportunity to block & run as designed. But here’s the head scratcher and Conner knows this. The passing scheme has been simplified to 2 or 3 eligible receivers in patterns. Why? The reason is #19 CANNOT mentally process the needed reads. Coaching staff obviously sees this in practice every day. So, the offense has been dumbed down to simple reads and check downs of 2 or 3 receivers. #19 can’t do even this. How does Conner expect the coaching staff to take the offense to the next level with #19 who’s ability to make the necessary reads is stuck at the HS freshman level? The OC’s hands are tied. Cannot take this offense to the next level when #19 cannot process his reads to take advantage of M’s talent and defense’s inability to cover 4 or 5 receivers. The OC cannot get his offense there because QB #19 (I’ll just say it) simply doesn’t have the brain power to read & make decisions that would expose the opposing team’s defense. His football IQ is stuck in high school and 15 starts and one & a half years of practice with the #1 offense has not improved his ability. That’s because it’s not his athletic ability that’s lacking, it’s his fucking IQ. Go ahead Conner. Say it.
