This is disturbing. A Japanese anime and cosplay event in Istanbul was reportedly disrupted by a local religious group shouting “Allahu Akbar,” with organizers pressured to cancel the event over claims that cosplay and anime conflicted with their moral values. If this kind of thinking ever spread to Japan, would Comiket or Akihabara be next? Japan should be careful about importing intolerance toward its own culture.
