I've been asked what to recommend to Vision's faithful users now that Vision is gone, here's an honest opinion and a few notes : 1. The tech is fine, the business (marketing, onboarding, education) part is missing in ENS and all related platforms. ENS is in an echo-chamber. All of ENS people (dev, fam, core) need to stop trying to think outside of the box (if any) and realize - there is no box. Go global, go hard, spend time and money on reach. All of the below offer great service, most differences are in UI/UX which is a personal choice, use the one you like best. Best advice for devs - KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid). Platform (and ENS app) needs to be made for the dumbest possible user, that is how you win big audience numbers. Target priority - millions of subnames issued but no user ever came to check out the source, the core, the real and true .eth 2. ALL of the platforms are totally fine for secondary, all of them use Seaport 1.6 contract (OS contract) which is secure and working as it should. ALL are better than OS tech wise except for the reach OS has (tho for ENS not so much more, Vision was 50-50 with OS for awhile). 3. NameWhisper @NameWhisper_AI - Eggy and 1985 are OG degens, they know ENS, they know shills, inventive approach, there is a long (and hopefully bright) way ahead of them. Maybe putting a bit too much accent on AI tech but understandable as it is highly trending. 4. Grails @grailsmarket - devs are great, some of them been in ENS as long as Vision (one of the devs was part of Kodex which was Vision's greatest fear as competitor in 2022 but management messed up back then), good features and categories, they know their business, an "iffy" subject for a global app - christian subcontext and image (could be but doesnt have to be an issue in global reach). 5. ENS Tools @enstools , also OG's (changed ownership) very detailed, wonderful tools but (again, as everyone else) the reach is very low. They are trying though, creating ENS related media and social content, just missing the hype-y degen approach (maybe a bit too professional, leans more to pro or academic approach instead of degen approach). Other tools and projects worth mentioning : NameSpace @namespace_eth (subdomain ninjas) - absolute beasts, SnipeZone @SnipeZoneTools , UBNET @Unblockdprofile (ENS social web3), DominiosENS @dominios_ens (Spanish ENS, very important long term). NFA + this is a personal opinion, I don't have to be right or wrong.

We're shutting Vision down on August 31. Before we go, we want to correct the record on the SPP3 Marketplace RFP. 1. We had attributed revenue, on a public dashboard. We submitted our Dune dashboard showing 1,683 ETH of attributable revenue for the ENS DAO. The committee's recommendation says Grails was "the only applicant with attributed, independently reproducible marketplace impact." That is not accurate. We provided attributed, reproducible revenue too. We were told directly that Vision fell short because the committee "could not independently verify the comparative volume figures." That is a fair and specific reason. It is not the same as "we had no attributed revenue," which is how the aggregate rationale reads. We had years worth of contracts, not months and one. Happy for you to all to review the data that the DAO had > dune.com/meador/ens-vision-r… 2. We built the growth machinery, and got no credit for it. Grails has none of it, and wasn't penalized. Vision ships real discovery and trust infrastructure: SEO-indexed name pages, AEO, GDPR compliance, and the reach and community to bring new users in. That is exactly what a marketplace needs to grow an ecosystem registrations and renewals. Instead of crediting that, the committee's rationale docked the "growth services" and "marketing and education" side of applications. Grails, by the committee's own account, has none of that - no SEO, no GDPR, no AEO, no reach. Its marketing is its named biggest gap, and its growth plan "leans on shipping product rather than reaching new users." Yet it scored 4.00 on Revenue and Adoption, the highest-weighted metric. So the applicant who built the discovery, trust, and distribution machinery was penalized for it, and the applicant who has none of it was rewarded. That is not a case where we lost on growth. We lost despite having the growth infrastructure the ecosystem says it needs. Only one applicant cleared the threshold. The award threshold was 3.0 weighted. Nomentum cleared it at 3.84. The nearest applicants, including Vision as second highest, scored 2.97, just under the line. In an RFP funding a single award, only the incumbent cleared the bar, the same incumbent whose own referral data the committee cited when it proposed this RFP. Vision are not asking for the outcome to change. Vision is closing and that is final. But the record should reflect why it closed. We built a real marketplace with real attributed volume, and the growth machinery to grow it. We were not the only applicant with revenue, and the one that won has none of the reach infrastructure we were penalized for lacking. 🧡 Vision - over and out.
