For those interested in what I was talking about, it took some digging, because I was fuzzy on the details, but here it is.
Here's why people cant get married. It doesnt show up until the stats are broken down by gender and ideology. So any polls only showing gender and age will hide this.
Women have been taught all their lives to value career, money, and independence. Babies have been culturally considered a burden and nuisance instead of an investment.
As a result, family creation isnt even in the top 5 priorities of the modern woman between 20-30, iirc.
To contrast, the top five goals of men in the same range are either trending towards family creation, or the establishment of a home/career for a future family.
The stats are rather depressing.
Gen X still had the idea that making a family was important in a perilous world. And before that, having a family was each person's duty for the future. But now? In an era of convenience detached from morality, a lot of that has crumbled.
People will *say* it's the economy. But really, we have all the wrong priorities and are quite consumerist and selfish in the West.
