It’s not a coincidence. National socialists tend to be apologists for the worst authoritarians in the world because they share a hatred for western civilization.
But it does expose how someone like Carlson is particularly dishonest because he will apply standards to western countries like America and Israel while providing cover and insisting on none for Russia, Nazi Germany, the Islamic Republic, Assad’s regime etc.
On a larger point, I understand it’s embarrassing for people who tried to defend Tucker for the last several years to now have to admit they were wrong and he is exactly the demonic and dishonest propagandist many of us have identified him as during that time, but at some point you can’t keep ignoring reality and doubling down. And especially if you’re a politician asking for people to trust your judgement, it’s fair for those people to judge you for a continued association with such a figure.
