Well, about that, I would think that the reason it hasn't been changed is that 1) it isn't as drastically in need of a new frame as, eg, this, below, and 2) it is necessary to find the right frame, of such a size as not to need or to need only minor alteration, which isn't easy..

Only a very small dragon could comfortably be accommodated on this hoard, though; I don't think that many people are aware of the insane desire for bright shiny stuff which causes your +size dragon to decorate even his public lairs with positive tons of GOLD...

Very beautiful indeed, with a lovely Greek fret - and the Art Nouveauish fabric swirl is like Ld Leighton's Picking up Pebbles. Perhaps he had visited Aphrodisias?

Definitely the left! Reframing Poussin generally looks to the very linear egs in his self-portrait; & @Mweilc has also, v observantly, found this anon portrait of P's patron Jean Pointel with a Poussin landscape in a Louis XIII-XIV convex frame; but no corner-centre frames EVER🙂
