The one upside to how broken the Twitter algorithms are these days is once again my feed is like 60% Veep content, which is great bc it is the best show ever made.
my favorite thing about VEEP is that it was unrelenting and showed zero mercy. those ppl are ghouls and at no point in the show did they try to humanize them. every part of them was ugly and you laughed bc they were also so so so so dumb.

Newsom’s opposition to Prop 40 on behalf of billionaires is a big reason it failed. This is the same guy who opposes CalCare, vetoed ranked choice voting, threw trans people under the bus, did a photo op clearing a homeless encampment etc. He’s a slimy weasel & cannot be POTUS.
Gavin Newsom does whatever he believes will advance his political career, but I will give credit to Clemency California, Amnesty International, and the dozens of other organizations and organizers that fought so hard to make this happen.

Jfc this was such a bad prop and I'm unfortunately not shocked that it passed
BREAKING: California voters just passed Prop 37. Buyers of newly built homes can now put down 3% instead of 20%. How: the state lends you the other 17% as a second mortgage, funded by up to $25 billion in bonds. On an $800,000 home that's $24,000 down instead of $160,000.

I’ll say this: voters in places like Murfreesboro, TN didn’t send a Democrat from a safe red district to Congress because they want to go back to status quo democratic leadership
NEW: House Dems "inundated" w/ calls & emails urging them not to elect Jeffries speaker One member told @axios they got "300-400" calls in 2 days Another said "over 500" A third said "higher" than 500: "It's our No. 1 issue, and it's not close." axios.com/2026/11/06/jeffrie…

if she announced she wanted to hunt Vivek for sport in the woods of Scioto County I would completely understand
Governor-elect Amy Acton (D-OH) says she has “no intention of speaking” to her Republican opponent, Vivek Ramaswamy, after his campaign ran a controversial ad that featured her estranged mother: “Leaders’ words matter and we need to hold folks accountable.” First on CBS Mornings, Governor-elect Acton also shares about her mission to bring “public service, unity and decency” to her state and her position on AI data centers: “We’re open for business, but we’re not for sale and we’re not to be exploited.”

Actually, it's time to abolish ICE.
It’s time for ICE to take the masks off, turn the body cameras on, and start answering to the American people who pay for their bloated budget.

If he turns Mississippi blue it is the biggest story of the midterms. You really don’t understand.
Update from AP: Democrat Scott Colom leads Republican incumbent Cindy Hyde-Smith by 1,822 votes. A call is not imminent.

If youve never lived it, it can be hard to understand the absolute onslaught of propaganda unleashed on CA voters for/against props in the run up to elections. It is confusing even for informed and politically literate voters. It is actively & purposefully deceptive.
not really, I don’t think californians are obsessed with billionaires, it’s because those billionaires spent $300mil on a propaganda campaign to run endless No on 40 ads, and the average voter will listen to what they hear in ads instead of doing their own research

In Fahrenheit 451, the chief book-burner, Captain Beatty, describes how reading became obsolete because the public demanded increasingly fast-paced entertainments, and those entertainments slowly corroded their ability to think. “Books cut shorter. Condensations. Digests, tabloids. Everything boils down to the gag, the snap ending. Classics cut to fit fifteen-minute radio shows, then cut again to fill a two-minute book column … Many were those whose sole knowledge of Hamlet was a one-page digest in a book that claimed, ‘Now at last you can read all the classics.’ … School is shortened, discipline relaxed, philosophies, histories, languages dropped, English and spelling gradually neglected, finally almost completely ignored. Life is immediate, the job counts, pleasure lies all about after work. Why learn anything save pressing buttons, pulling switches?” In this passage Ray Bradbury foretells the intellectual hollowing out of the working class, the advent of AI-generated “summaries” of classic novels, the attention-frying culture of short-form video, the relaxation of educational standards into non-existence. All of this in a book published in 1953.
Starting to really understand why a core theme of dystopian novels is that nobody reads

Hell of a thing to demand states hand over voters’ personal information and require proof of citizenship, then refuse to vote yourself because you don’t want your address on the very voter rolls you think the federal government should have access to.
