Let me share another fact about my dad… I said he was raised by a loving family… but not the circumstances…
Here were the circumstances…
My dad use to joke he wasn’t raised on the wrong side of the tracks, but in between the tracks. His home doesn’t exist anymore, because it was torn down.
If you know downtown Salt Lake… he lived literally between the tracks.
Not a great area…
So does that mean he didn’t deserve life all of a sudden?
WHAT A JOKE!
My dad had an amazing life! He worked hard! His parents weren’t active in church, he went to church with his friends. He worked hard since the age of 14… he gave that work ethic to his children. He saved his money and served a full time mission.
He went to college at the University of Utah. He worked HARD for the same company he started with from the age of 14 most of his life.
He got married to my mom and together had 6 children. They gave us a beautiful life. We lived in beautiful neighborhoods in beautiful homes.
My dad has traveled the world over and over… he has sang as a soloist with the Tabernacle Choir, toured with Latter Day Saint Scholars, acted with well known actors, performed in countless productions, and has done more than I can write in a single post.
To even try to say that my grandmother STILL should have/could have/ been able to choose, have access, was denied access, etc… is so repulsive I could vomit.
Women for centuries, have been finding ways to end their pregnancies… my grandmother CHOSE LIFE FOR HER CHILDREN!
And POVERTY IS NOT A DEATH SENTENCE NOR A JUSTIFICATION FOR MURDER!
THE END.
Taking away access to abortion leads to kids growing up in poverty, being raised by parents who resent their existence, or winding up in foster care, like 330,000 other children. For every story where things worked out, there's another where things ended sadly.
