In Tshwane, the informal trading sector is for South Africans.
We approved the Informal Trading and Township Economy By-Law which prioritises South Africans in the sector. We’ve also gone further to support the sector. We launched an Online Business Licence and Permit Platform. This platform is integrated with Home Affairs to verify applicants and ensure that those who qualify are South Africans.

Johannesburg Water has made a payment arrangement with the City of Tshwane. We thank the entity for agreeing to settle its municipal bill.
Water will now be reconnected to the Centurion based reservoir. @CityTshwane
We’ve disconnected electricity at a reservoir owned by Johannesburg Water, in Centurion. The City of Tshwane is owed over R62 million by the entity. The original bill stood at 69,4 million, but only R7 million was paid after a final notice was issued.
Disconnection actions are the last measure used by the municipality to recover revenue owed.
We continue to plead with customers to honour their municipal bills. Without revenue, we are unable to deliver services to residents of Tshwane.
