Dragged into middle age kicking and screaming. I tweet about Army stuff, video games, and stuff I think is funny.

military voters get sent absentee ballots for their home of record. So - in this instance - if I was stationed in Fort Bragg, my vote would still count for Harris County, TX. The color on this map means nothing.

Enterprise dodging the draft…
I love the big CGI space battles in late-DS9, they're so enormous and exciting, after so many seasons, it felt like a real treat to see this many ships in battle! #StarTrek #DeepSpaceNine #DominionWar #CaptainSisko #Worf #Dax (#DS9 6x06)

Ima keep it a buck- I never liked flying with religious pilots. Things get hairy and they start praying when then should be aviating. God is not your co-pilot, keep your hands on the yolk and throttle and fly that bitch all the way to the scene of the crash.

The fact is A LOT of pilots that push “big iron” don’t have much time hand flying anymore. SOP is to get the plane off the ground, activate the flight director and autopilot then take back over on short final. 9,000 flight hours doesn’t mean very much if you’re not really flying
Middle aged man. Thoughts and prayers for everyone including the ghouls who tried to make this about something besides a tragedy

Unpopular Opinion: Patrick Stewart made Star Trek worse as his influence over the franchise increased. My feed is full of Picard clips. Almost none are from the era after the TV finale. There is a reason. The TNG movies kind of sucked. I rank all but First Contact below Final Frontier. First Contact ranks one higher only because it has some entertaining moments if you turn your brain completely off. Stewart had a major say in the production of Insurrection. The entire movie seemed to be built around trying to get another infamous Picard lecture on film. It was so heavy handed it felt like he was lecturing the audience as if we voted to move the Ba'ku and he was mad at us for it. It was a boring movie ripoff of a not so good season 7 episode. After Insurrection tanked he gave up his producer role in exchange for a big pay bump to do Nemesis. He did get his dune buggy scene and a chance to do more action stuff though. Nemesis may have been the final nail for Trek movies, but Insurrection built the coffin. Fast forward to Star Trek Picard, where Stewart held almost all the cards. Trek needed him a lot more than he needed Trek. Almost every bad decision made on that show was to comply with Stewart's demands. Season 3 was better received (it still sucked) because Stewart relented on his demands and it had the benefit of being compared to a season where a Borg infected human literally eats car batteries. The Jean Luc Picard that everyone fondly remembers has not existed since May 23, 1994. Good things did indeed end.

It has some good moments but here is what kills it for me: 1. Overplayed the emotion chip with Data. I think one of the reasons that Picard's request to Data to turn it off in First Contact landed so well was relief 2. I never liked the Klingon boob window sisters. They act more like "The Last Outpost" Ferengi than Klingons. 3. The destruction of the Enterprise came too easy, and wasn't given enough respect. 4-1000. Kirk's death was poorly handled.

I think my only real gripe with Generations (which you salaciously and incorrectly put below ST5) is that there’s not even an acknowledgment that Worf has this deep, longstanding beef with the Duras sisters. Not even a shot of Worf saying “man I hate these chicks.”

I learned the words, “sophistry” “alacrity” and “sagacity” from Patrick Stewart.

Sex is cool but have you ever stood in line at MicroCenter while everyone in front of you discusses the criteria they used for their purchases in detail to the cashier while looking at their fucking shoes?

The ground in Afghanistan was so hard, that digging IEDs out of it took special tools. After a good rain, the ground would be like concrete. I broke a lot of knives. I finally found two things that worked really well: a fixed-blade Smith & Wesson that was eventually stolen by an Afghan Army Soldier during recovery operations after an IED strike on our convoy, and this thing. It’s a bayonet with a handle epoxied to it. It never let me down. Extra credit if you know what it is.
