Before Pete Maravich at LSU there was Bob Pettit. Before Dominque Wilkins with the Hawks in Atlanta, there was Bob Pettit with the Hawks in St. Louis. The first great power forward in the game. 11 year career. 11x All Star. 1 of only 7 players to have played 60+ playoff games and averaged 25 pts and 10 rebounds (Dirk, Olajuwon, Jokic, Anthony Davis, Elgin Baylor, & Giannis)

The NBA family mourns the passing of Naismith Hall of Famer Bob Pettit, a two-time NBA MVP and a member of all four NBA Anniversary Teams.  He raised the bar for excellence as the league’s first MVP, first 20,000-point scorer and first four-time All-Star Game MVP.  His iconic 50-point performance in Game 6 of the 1958 NBA Finals clinched the championship for the St. Louis Hawks.  Beyond those accomplishments, Bob helped transform the power forward position.  Our thoughts are with Bob’s family and friends and the entire Hawks organization.

The Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame mourns the passing of 1973 inductee Bob Pettit. A Baton Rouge native and LSU legend, Pettit was an 11-time NBA All-Star, two-time MVP and NBA champion with the Hawks. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.

In preparing for the CBB season this week, it seems like every 20 minutes it’s a game that Chris was doing. I ALWAYS took notes when he was doing games but I just can’t fathom the unfathomable of this. All we can do is pray for God’s peace+ strength for his Family and Friends.

RIP Chris Spatola. Started his ACC network career when I was at ND. Quickly became one of the best. Every ND game he had we laughed about Harold Swanagan crushing him with screen when he played for Army and Chris wanting to fight him! He always made you smile.

Just learned my old friend Arnie Sgalio died last night. Just really tough news. Thinking of his family and many friends and colleagues.

Devastated to hear of the passing of Chris Spatola. Chris was a great coach, broadcaster and an even better person. I’m grateful for the time we shared at Duke and the impact he had on so many people. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

Chris was about all the right things. I will never get over this.
