This week, Cardinal Langlois of Las Cayes in Haiti, Archbishop Wenski of @CatholicMiami, Archbishop Casey of @CatholicAoC, and Bishop Fabre-Jeune of @DioceseChas, were in Washington to meet with elected officials to discuss the situation now facing many Haitian families in the United States and to help increase understanding of the dire conditions in Haiti. They concluded their time in the nation's capital by celebrating a Mass of solidarity with the local Haitian community and those impacted by ongoing changes to immigration policy. The USCCB continues to urge the U.S. Senate to advance the House-passed bill requiring the extension of Haiti’s temporary protected status designation (H.R. 1689) to allow Haitians to remain lawfully in the United States while return to their country of origin remains unsafe.
