No New Yorker should lose their life just trying to get around our city. We refuse to accept preventable tragedy as an inevitable part of living in New York.  That's why we’ve announced more than 100 policies to make our streets safer over the next 10 years. We’re:
— Redesigning our most dangerous streets. 
— Regulating delivery apps. 
— Lowering speed limits where children play. 
— Upgrading 1,000 intersections every year. 
— Cracking down on dangerous drivers and super speeders. 
— Improving our street lights.

Great door knocking in Hastings-Sunrise! Thx to all the residents who took the time to speak and share what matters most to your families. Public safety & affordability remain top priorities. Residents want stronger enforcement when it comes to open hard-drug use, while making sure our streets and public spaces work for the people who live here. This is what’s possible when we make public safety a priority. Following the incredible news that the Province will not move forward with the proposed 900 Helmcken drug consumption site, I had the opportunity to speak with local business owners who were excited and thankful that their voices had been heard. It was great hearing from Jon Bula, owner of Groundwork Athletics, about not only what the decision at 900 Helmcken means to him, but what he has seen happening in the Granville Entertainment District. Jon has watched Granville change dramatically over the past few months. During FIFA, increased activity, security and visitors brought an incredible energy back to the area. As Jon puts it, Granville has been vibrant again. His business just experienced its busiest August in a long time. And after seeing what is possible, he doesn’t want to go backwards. Jon also spoke about something much more personal. He used to bring his kids downtown. Today, because of open air drug use and street disorder, he doesn’t feel comfortable doing that anymore. We need to change that. Families should feel comfortable coming downtown. Businesses should be able to thrive. Visitors should be excited to experience Granville. And people suffering from severe mental health and addiction challenges should be getting the care they need. The decision at 900 Helmcken is an important step. Now we need to keep moving forward. Because we’ve seen what Granville can be. And we know what’s possible when we keep our city safe, vibrant and welcoming for everyone. On October 17th, a YES vote in the Public Safety Plebiscite will provide a clear mandate for lasting change in how we address open air hard drug use and care for our most vulnerable. Warning, have first-hand reports that @VancouverPD are ticketing cyclists westbound at 1st & Crowe. There's a VPD parking lot on the right and a cop hit a cyclist there recently. Approx 0% of cars stop at this stop sign but they specifically said they're only targeting cyclists

FICTION: @PeterMeiszner claimed the Vision Zero plan would lower the speed on "streets like Boundary Rd, Clark, Knight St." FACT: The report clearly references streets with "high pedestrian activity" and "busy shopping streets." Did Peter even read the report before gutting it?
