🚨 Flash floods have devastated communities across Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading in #Nepal 🇳🇵. Over 900 people have been killed in the floods. Thousands are still missing. These numbers are expected to go up, as rescue operations are ongoing. Families have lost loved ones, homes and access to essential services. An estimated 10,000 households across six districts in Bagmati and Gandaki provinces urgently need relief. Health facilities and other critical infrastructure have also been severely affected. 🏠 #WHO stays committed to supporting Nepal through the response and recovery efforts. Within hours of the disaster, WHO dispatched emergency health supplies to support up to 10,000 people. From deploying teams on the ground to delivering essential medicines, setting up tents and supporting health workers, WHO is helping strengthen the health response. 🏥 We are supporting government coordinate the health response with partners, strengthen disease surveillance, maintain essential health services and address emerging health risks. After over 3 years of negotiations, WHO Member States have finalized a draft #PandemicAccord to make the world safer from future pandemics. The draft agreement will now be submitted to WHO’s Member States meeting at the #WHA78 for consideration and adoption Proposals within the text include: ✅ Boosting global collaboration on prevention & preparedness ✅ Strengthening health systems & R&D worldwide ✅ Creating a fair system for pathogen access & benefit-sharing ✅ Building a skilled global health emergency workforce The proposal respects national sovereignty—the draft agreement does not provide WHO any authority to direct, order, alter or prescribe national laws or policies, or mandate States to take specific actions. bit.ly/3EaZQmL
