"Of the five drivers studied: adoption of electric vehicles and large-load demand centers contribute most to the cost of grid expansion and operation in Texas, the electric vehicle driver has the greatest impact on peak demand while the large load driver has the greatest impact on total electricity consumption, the adoption of electric heat reduces summer electricity demand, and a rapid increase in large load demand is met most economically by natural gas, wind, and solar deployment."
