A really lovely evening at this pub in the City of London talking cameras with my brother. We had a drink and a laugh over a beer or two and surrounded by nice people enjoying their after work drink. Sometimes, for your mental health, it’s essential to get off the doom and gloom on here. Sure, there’s plenty to be gloomy about right now, but while the government is causing everything to crash down around us, we all need to carry on and enjoy our lives. The blitz spirit if you will. Cheers 🍻

As horrendous as this Labour government is, literally everything we are fighting so hard against right now was ushered in under the Conservative government that lied and deceived its way into power for 14 years. And yet, there are still people who think voting Conservative again will sort it all out. I just can't get my head around that logic—or maybe it's an abuse cycle that people just can't seem to break out of?

Someone asked me to have a look at recorded losses at the NHS. So heres a very quick overview. I get it to £11.093 BILLION of losses formally recorded by the DHSC departmental group in 2 YEARS. So before you talk to me about 'envy of the world', I suggest you get your eyeballs around this bollocks (technical term) Heres the down and dirty list. The audited accounts break it down to include: ▪️ Constructive losses - £8.261 BILLION ▪️ Fruitless payments - (fucked up) £2.503 BILLION ▪️ Claims abandoned - £49.9 MILLION (fucked up) ▪️ Stock losses -£12 MILLION ▪️ NHS building projects abandoned- £216 MILLION ▪️ NHS assets decided were obsolete- £140 MILLION ▪️ NHS assets lost or damaged -£24 MILLION ▪️ NHS assets over specified (huh?) £5 MILLION ▪️ Leeds Teaching Hospitals - £34.9 MILLION ▪️ Imperial College Healthcare - £18.3 MILLION ▪️ East Sussex Healthcare - £11.9 MILLION ▪️ Musgrove Park/Somerset - £9 MILLION ▪️ Shrewsbury & Telford -£5.8 MILLION ▪️loss and damage to stock - £59.7 MILLION ▪️ £1.249 BILLION of expired Covid antiviral medicines crystallised as constructive losses in 2024/25. (oops) ▪️ abandoned claims against PPE suppliers £572 MILLION oh and then to top it all off theres £6.327 BILLION in negligence, settlements, awards and legal fees. All of this is funded by taxpayers. YEY! (don't add all of those figures together. Some of the individual figures are already contained within the larger totals. I'm showing you what is buried inside the accounts)

When I was in Israel last year, a man took his own life on the eve of his wedding. A similar heartbreaking story the previous year. Many 7/10 “survivors” can’t bear living, can’t escape the guilt that they lived, can’t forget the people they lost and want to go to be with them. Thinking today of all those left with trauma and loss.

Tim Stanley is going to love that speech. It's very much a speech for her AB voters. Is that deliberate, or is that because she has been cocooned in wealthy Conservative circles so long she can't communicate with other voters.

Today is the seventh of October. A day when innocent men, women and children were murdered. Families were destroyed. Young people were slaughtered. People were dragged from their homes and taken. As an Englishman, I believe in freedom of speech, the right to protest and the right to disagree. But freedom also demands conscience. There are 365 days in the year. Why choose this one? Why march on the anniversary of a massacre, while Jewish families remember their dead? We should not be frightened to say: this is wrong. We will oppose the glorification of terrorism and we will never accept the argument that the murder of Jewish men, women or children somehow matters less because of politics. It is decency against hatred. October the seventh should be a day to remember the dead and never a day to celebrate their killers.
