Llamaron "resistencia" a violar, a torturar, a secuestrar, a quemar vivas a familias enteras.

¡Visca Israel i visca Catalunya!»

GeoConfirmed conflictmap 7OCT23. Exactly three years ago, our volunteers were confronted with emerging information and the first footage coming out of Israel and the border with Gaza. Although it took Western media more than a week to grasp the full scale of what happened on 7 October, our volunteers quickly realised that something horrific was unfolding. While Israel initially provided very little communication about the attacks, Hamas propaganda was operating at full capacity. Many Western audiences encountered the conflict only when the IDF began bombing Gaza, without fully understanding why. This highlights a crucial lesson governments should draw from the conflict: do not allow your adversary to dominate the information environment. While accounts such as Syrian Girl, WarMonitor (Suspended by X in May 2024), along with many others, downplayed Hamas’s role and focused, sometimes through the spread of disinformation, on the IDF, it became increasingly clear to our volunteers what had happened: This was the deadliest terrorist attack in Israel’s history. For this reason, we created a dedicated map of the 7 October attacks, compiling all the geolocated footage we could find: geoconfirmed.org/map/7oct Even today, media outlets often refer to it simply as a “Hamas attack,” but it was far larger than Hamas alone. We identified several militant groups, most of which are designated as terrorist organisations by the European Union. The groups involved included the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’s military wing; the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades; the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP); the Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades; the Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of Palestinian Islamic Jihad; the Palestinian Mujahideen Movement; the Mujahideen Brigades; Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ); and others. GeoConfirmed’s footage made clear that these groups operated in their own designated areas. Journalists who attribute the attacks solely to Hamas do not tell the full story. Our team has analysed more than 100,000 videos and other pieces of footage from various conflicts, and some of the most disturbing material we have encountered was recorded during the 7 October attacks. Below is only a small fraction of that footage. More footage is available on our website. THIS FOOTAGE IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. However, we believe it is our responsibility to show the context in which Israel’s response took place. If you notice footage that has not yet been geolocated, or if you have seen footage that is not yet included on the map, please do not hesitate to let us know. This post is not, in any way, an endorsement of how the IDF responded to the attack. As lead volunteer Admin of the GeoConfirmed Project I would like to thank all the volunteers involved once again for their hard work and dedication. THANK YOU!

Today we remember the victims of the October 7 massacre – the killing of innocent Israeli people, the torture, mutilation, rape and kidnapping, parading of the dead, the wanton cruelty and the depraved celebrations of murder, the gleeful delight in brutality, the degeneracy of its perpetrators and supporters. It is a day that stands out for its unparalleled sadism and nihilism. The scale of the killing of people of all sorts, all races, Jewish and Arab and others, is unequalled in a single day in modern times. It was the greatest murder of Jewish people since the Holocaust. Its cruelty and barbarism seem to belong to cruel times long ago – this was a lurch back to the raids and slaughters of the Mongols or the Huns - but it is unique too in its 21stcentury hi-tech modernity: it was filmed live by its perpetrators and other cameras and so unlike any other atrocity in all of human history, its details are beyond question. It is the most documented butchery and sadism ever perpetrated – and therefore the reactions to it are simply the clearest and most unequalled test of humanity available to us, reactions that will be remembered in the future. It was also a crime against peace: its effects were utterly destructive for Israelis but also for Palestinians and the innocent people across the whole region who perished in the wars it unleashed. More than that, it was an atrocity against humanity itself - and the humanist values that mark all decent people, the values of liberal, free, kind societies and communities everywhere. Its effects were utterly destructive for Israelis but also for the Palestinians and the rest of the region. Today we remember those who died, those who were wounded, those who were kidnapped, tortured, raped and killed in the tunnels of Gaza, those who lost friends and compatriots. It was a crime of annihilation to launch the liquidation of an entire people and nation, to kill and torture Israelis and Jews. Am Yisrael Chai.

A Statement of Conscience on October 7 I will not start by saying ‘as a Muslim’ or ‘as an imam’, but as a human being. On October 7, over 1,200 innocent people were killed in a single day. Families were shot in their homes. Young people out dancing were hunted across open fields. Over 250 people, including children and the elderly, were dragged into Gaza as hostages. I think of a mother hiding in a safe room with her baby’s mouth covered. I think of a father listening as the line went quiet. I think of families who waited month after month for someone to come home, only to receive a coffin. I didn’t need my faith to recognize the evil of what happened. My heart told me first. But I’m a Muslim and an imam, and I owe the world one honest sentence: what was done that day was a crime against God. God teaches that whoever kills one innocent soul, it is as if he had killed all humanity. This day has an author: Yahya Sinwar. He planned it, ordered it, and knew what would follow. Every death of that day and war he started rests on him and Hamas leaders who sat in tunnels and foreign hotels and called slaughter a victory. It rests on every Palestinian leader who cheered, excused, handed out sweets, or said nothing. They chose this. They own it. But Sinwar did not invent himself. He was the fruit of a tree planted almost a century ago by the Muslim Brotherhood. Hamas named itself in its founding charter as the Brotherhood’s branch in Palestine. The Brotherhood’s poison is slow. It arrives through study circles, youth camps, charity boxes, and kind words to lonely young men. Drop by drop, it teaches him that his religion is a political party, his neighbour is his enemy, the Jew is the cause of his sorrow, and God is pleased by rage. By the time the gun arrives, the soul is already taken. I have seen this poison in mosques where sermons became rallies and young men could recite slogans but not sit still for a verse on mercy. Every people that let the Brotherhood in has paid in blood and ruined generations. It has never built anything it did not first set on fire. Behind Hamas stands another hand: the IRGC. It was the IRGC’s money, weapons, and training that turned a hateful idea into an army. One calls itself Sunni and the other Shia, and they may curse each other’s creeds, but they are united in what they worship. It is not God. It is power. The same IRGC that armed the killers of October 7 shoots Iranian girls for showing their hair, hangs young men for asking to be free, and has left graves from Tehran to Damascus to Beirut. They speak in God’s name. So did Pharaoh speak in the name of heaven. So let me say this clearly. Hamas and the IRGC are not merely enemies of Islam. That would be too small a charge, as if their crime were only against us. They are enemies of God. God is the Giver of life, yet they deal in death. God calls Himself the Most Merciful, yet they have made cruelty a sacrament. God honoured the children of Adam, yet they look at a child and see a target or a shield. To murder what God created and sign His name to it is the oldest blasphemy. And we Muslims have been too quiet. Some of us were afraid. Some told ourselves it was not our business. Some, God forgive them, felt something other than horror that morning and never confessed it. Silence was the soil this poison grew in. I will not add to it. So on this anniversary, let us say plainly what our scripture already says. The Jews are not our enemies. They are our cousins in Abraham, and their dead were created by the same God who created us. Today belongs to them: the murdered, the hostages, and families who still set a place at the table. To them I say: I am sorry for what was done to you by men who used the words of my prayers. You’re not alone in your grief or remembrance. The enemies of God are those who murder in His name. We know their names. It is time we said them from our own pulpits, in our own voices, before they speak for us again. Imam Tawhidi
