So when we hear about things like the “Heartland Visa” designed to flood rural areas with an unlimited foreign workforce as reported by @nataliegwinters we have to resist the urge to use bad language. Acc to Winters: A think tank co-founded by Facebook’s founding president wants an entirely NEW visa category to repopulate struggling American communities with foreign workers. It’s called the HEARTLAND VISA. They’ve already mapped roughly 1,700 potentially eligible counties… The Economic Innovation Group, co-founded by Sean Parker, wants at least 100,000 visas a year. The pitch is explicit: “In exchange for living in a Heartland Visa community, workers with sufficient earnings will gain permanent residency”. Here are my thoughts:

ICE carried out a massive deportation operation out of Louisiana today, with more than 1,000 migrants reportedly being removed from the country. More than 20 flights were scheduled out of Alexandria, which has become the nation’s busiest hub for ICE deportation flights. The operation comes as the Trump administration continues expanding immigration enforcement and removals nationwide. ICE has increasingly relied on the Alexandria hub to move detainees before flights to destinations outside the United States. More than 1,000 removals in a single day makes this one of the most striking displays yet of the administration’s stepped-up enforcement effort.
