Eagerly watching what PopVax does next! For the uninitiated- they’ve gone clinical with their fridge-stable Covid mRNA vaccine. The vaccine can stay stable at fridge temps for 9 months, easing distribution for countries with limited cold chain infra (like India).
PopVax's initiation of our first clinical trial has been covered in the Mint by @_jesthetic! livemint.com/companies/start…

#MintPrimer | The Kerala high court on 28 September gave the Centre a legal route to intervene when patented life-saving medicines become unaffordable, holding that the government can invoke Section 100 of the Patents Act, 1970, to use a patented drug for public health purposes. Mint explains how the ruling could help improve access to expensive remedies. A Kerala HC order opens a legal route for the govt to make lifesaving drugs accessible to people who can’t afford them, on a non-commercial basis. The caveat - high prices alone don’t open this provision and there’s a lot more data needed. livemint.com/news/mint-expla…

#MIntLongStory | Gut health, weight loss, anti-ageing—India’s grey market is bubbling with “miracle shots” promising quick fixes. The catch is, most of these products haven’t got regulatory approval. There was a party in Bengaluru where the main attraction was supposed to be peptides. Around 50 people were expected, but the party never happened. It was cancelled after doctors and others raised concerns about promoting these compounds this way. But the cancelled party revealed something bigger. Peptides are moving from niche biohacking circles into India’s wellness market. @samikshagoel20 , @_jesthetic report

Our actual public parks are either shut for half the day or have a bizarre list of things you can’t do there. End-stage capitalism is paying 2000rs to be allowed to picnic in a park.
biggest picnic rave in the country is happening in bangalore this weekend!! early bird tickets are already sold out👇🏻

Read my story for Mint Longform on Assam's flood control measures that have failed to make a dent in lives of people who were taken aback by floods this year and ones for them floods were just routine through their claim to livestock lives.

I am supposed to verify Carboplatin when the guidelines for patients relatives are... Do not share a room with a chemo patient at home Clothes & bedding washed separately Separate toilet No skin contact with patient sweat, vomit, urine or fecal matter Separate cutlery if possible .... It was bizarre and dystopian, though scientifically valid. This is is the part of cancer treatment no one talks about.
Replying to @spinesurgeon @p1j
I am seeing Carboplatin for the first time in my life. Even an educated aware person like me has zero way to know the packing is genuine. Why do I become the last check in a chain that began with a drugs regulator? Sorry, it's comical to see any defence of this process. We all know what this is - just some ₹100 lawyer empanelled by the hospital has made it a part of process to take this undertaking to use for medico legal purposes.

What does it mean to have only 5-minute phone calls a week to speak to your friends and family? In this video, we bring you Umar Khalid’s first-person account, as narrated to his friends and family and published first on The Quint, of what these five-minute phone calls mean to him inside Tihar Jail. Khalid says that he is “allowed to make three 5 minute phone calls in a week” – and that prison has taught him that “every second is precious”. “After lunch, I make notes for my next phone call,” he says. “How long is five minutes!” he asks, before describing what the lack of time to speak to friends and family does to a person: “The sheer lack of time to speak to your friends, something that is out of your hands, pushes you into isolation.” “The privilege to take time to ease out the knots of a difficult conversation with a loved one is simply something that is not afforded to me in prison.” Umar Khalid has remained in custody for six years while legal proceedings continue. His supporters have described his incarceration as an example of the challenges faced by dissenters and political prisoners in India, while authorities have maintained their allegations against him. Crazy to think that in 2026 we've had: • Anthropic's head of safeguards quit, warning "the world is in peril" (Feb) • OpenAI dissolved its own mission alignment team (Feb) • Unrestricted AI usage for the Pentagon (causing several researchers to quit) • Several AI models escaping sandbox testing (Since ~Q2) • 1,100+ frontier-lab employees signing a letter begging the government to pace AI development (Jul-Aug) And today yet another top researcher saying this.
I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.
