The worst investment I did is buying a property of Godrej- big brand bigger, bigger fraud. Bought a property in 2023, they told we will get possession in 2026 mid, forget the possession, they are telling they want to add additional floors and that too 8-9 floors, without adding any extra plot to the project. From past 3 months the CRMs has bullied, disturbed, bribed and what not for us to sign the consent form to modify the RERA, as a person who works a full time job, this kind of harassment takes a toll on mental health, as now I am paying full EMI and possession not sure when they are going to give(maybe 2028(Rera date)), the constructions they have left in mid. For Phase1 owners also they are pushing the handover deadline. This is so disappointing! and now I am stuck, so whenever you decide to buy a property in Godrej, think 100 times before.

Geographically gifted. Two oceans to protect from either side. Rich in mineral and energy resources. Land aplenty to do a million things. Hardly been settled and farmed hardly for few 100 years. And then an evolved system that keep pursuing the frontier in every dimension.

Ran into a former Indian ambassador who had been posted in several ASEAN countries. Asked him what he thought of the surge in Indian tourists to SE Asia. What he said is troubling. He said ‘ they are travelling to all these countries but have minimal intellectual curiosity about them. The obsession - where can I get Indian food.’ If this is true, we will continue to learn nothing, absorb nothing, despite all the influencers and global travel.

Recently, a distant relative I barely know visited my home in Gurgaon. He is probably in his early 60s. He finished his dinner, got up and went to the sink to wash his hands. Why couldn’t he take the plate with him? I was thinking, who exactly are you expecting to pick up your plate? You’re not even in your own house. Of course, I didn’t say anything. He was a guest and older than me. The disturbing part isn’t even that he left his plate on the table. I genuinely don’t think it registered in his mind that he had left anything behind. In his mind, dinner was over. The plate? Someone else would pick it up. That’s how Indian men are trained. First your mother picks up after you, then your sister and then your wife. Travel outside India and you realise how absurd this is. We talk endlessly about preserving Indian culture. But we rarely ask which parts of that culture actually deserve to be preserved. If ‘culture’ means a grown man can’t even pick up his own dirty plate because his mother, sister or wife will do it, maybe that part of our culture deserves to die. Not everything old deserves to be preserved.

Come to think of it. That man would still be alive if he slapped his wife instead of kissing her. You know how crazzzzzzzzy this sounds.

Quit your job, then see how many coworkers still check in. Zero. You don’t have coworker friends. You have friendly coworkers. Learn the difference.

The tragedy of India: the voters face a choice between crony-capitalist religious fanatics on the one hand and leftist economic illiterates who scorn capitalism on the other. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

A big uncomfortable takeaway from the Sept trade data is that India's software & services exports have started slowing, probably due to A.I.! Sept services surplus was down 10% yoy and April-Sept services surplus was up only 4%. Our goods exports are doing fabulously (up 23% in Sept), so goods trade deficit is declining -down 8.5% yoy in Sept. But it's still a deficit of $30bn for Sept & $177.6 bn for Apr-Sept. That deficit needs to be filled. Slowing services exports, probably due to A.I. is worrying. @FinMinIndia @RBI @CafeEconomics
