Tesla has announced that it is investing almost $250 million to expand 4680 battery cell production at its Giga Berlin factory, lifting its capacity target for the site by more than double, the company said today.
At 18GWh, the annual production capacity target would be more than twice the 8 GWh figure Tesla had previously set for the site, the company said.
Battery cell production at the expanded facility is expected to employ upward of 1,500 workers, according to Tesla. qz.com/tesla-250-million-bat…
