At the start of the 2025 season the AP had 10 teams from the SEC ranked in the top 25. The Big Ten had 6.
The SEC went 2-8 against other conferences in the postseason last year.
The B1G went 10-4.
The final AP ranking had 7 SEC schools and the Big Ten had 6.
Once again, the AP had 9 SEC schools ranked in the top 25 at the start of this season. The SOS is artificially propped up by these preseason rankings.

About 10 years ago everyone began to realize the SEC was being propped up by ESPN because ABC/ESPN was significantly invested in them. Now that social media has evolved, it's becoming more evident. We know the game. Most SEC teams are ranked so every loss is a "quality" loss.

2) yeah man 10-2 bama got in over yall. They had a MUCH tougher schedule.
3) maybe tell the conference champion who blew your shit smoove off 2 times to score a singular point in the playoffs.
Two things...
1) They will use this to cram as many SEC teams into the playoff because they will tell you playing 6-6 Missouri is actually tougher than playing 10-2 Houston or 10-2 Virginia because "SEC"
2) It's objectively hilarious Notre Dame is on this graphic regarding "conference strength." Weak schedule, no conference, and yet still get a protected top 12 spot in the playoff. Notre Dame should be plenty good enough against its schedule to not need a special rule.
