The “Cow Worshipper” and the Martyr: Muslims often mock Hindus as “cow worshippers.” I studied world religions, and Hinduism is far more complex than that caricature. But here’s the irony: the Indian captain who fought to save that Flydubai flight says he was reciting the Hindu Hanuman Chalisa while fighting for his life and the lives of everyone on board. So even if you want to reduce Hinduism to “cow worship,” I’ll take the so-called “cow worshipper” who risks his life to save human beings over a Muslim who wants to die as a martyr while killing others, even if he says he worships the one true God. Judge a faith by what it inspires people to do, not by the insults you’ve been taught to throw at others.
