I think the use of this today degrades the value of having the Emergency Alert. In my view, this should be reserved for immediate and necessary action not information - however important. And the wildfires are important. But there are other better ways to educate than a message people are desperate to get rid of through the noise.

Nothing says "national emergency" quite like receiving an urgent government alert in a language you don't speak. Apparently the UK Government thinks I should be able to decipher Welsh faster than a rapidly spreading wildfire.

Vegetation does not spontaneously combust. These fires are caused by bad land management, carelessness and arson.

It is easily the most moronic thing that your administrative has green lit. You are not warning people of an immediate danger. You are informing people about a potential danger through recklessness. The emergency alert is reserved for the most serious immediate dangers. Not to inform people of potential dangers such as wildfires. This alert did not need to be sent out with the high-pitched screeching nuclear associated tone that it came with. By sending out this alert you have recklessly sent a whole manner of people with dementia, Alzheimer's and other psychological impairments into a nervous state. My partner is a community carer and she is having to visit houses this evening she need not be visiting, or at length be visiting or scheduled to visit to reassure people suffering from panic attacks that their families are not about to be killed in a nuclear attack. You of all people should know the danger that you have inflicted on very vulnerable people with this poorly thought out announcement alert. Shame on you. Shame on your Administration for doing this.
