If you are complaining about prices in a tweet, your second sentence must be a call to raise corp and individual taxes and/or cut SS + the deficit. Otherwise your complaints cannot be taken seriously. FWIW snap & medicaid recipients aren't the problem.

We're at the: "woman managing the self-checkout at a grocery store reeks of alcohol at 8:00AM in the morning" stages of tightness in the real-work labor market.

As a side note, everyone thinks Trump cares about rates and oil....imo he only really cares about stocks. If stocks are up while rates and oil are both up, he doesn't care.
And if you disagree with this take, you should be at least short stocks in size...and if you're not you should ask yourself why.

Equities are 1% away from ATH. Get a grip. No one is panicking about bond yields. Everybody is telling you yields don't matter to the broader stock market or to consumption growth as long as the current crop of politicians & FOMC officials are in power.

How high do rates have to go to have a reverse wealth effect?
People are richer. U3 is going sub 4%. Nominal spending will continue to grow outside of the Ai ecosystem.

Is there a viable alternative to Amazon? Eh, not really. Maybe target, maybe Walmart. Is there a viable alternative to your internet service provider? For now, usually no. Is there a viable alternative to expedia and most hotels? Yes. Is there a viable alternative to IG? No.

In some ways, using LLMs to do research is like this. Sometimes I find myself down a deep research rabbit hole. Chat has been genuinely helpful, running data analysis, saving me hours of time. But then 2 hours later - I don't really remember anything except the conclusion.
Reading a textbook without doing the problems is like reading a workout plan without doing the exercises.

I feel like bessent is right: people should be buying Bunds vs. 10yr Treasuries. Both the ECB and fiscal gov'ts are more serious about fighting inflation/keeping fiscal policy tight than their american counterparts. Pushback welcome.

Or Gold is expensive. Lloyd Blankfein buys suits from SuitSupply for like $1300 (high end), and maybe $500 in tailoring?
New homes are cheap, actually. (The land is another question).

If you think inflation is a problem...the reality is that 2-3 hikes aren't likely to fix it. "Inflation is a problem" doing a lot heavy lifting here, because we simply do not have a coherent measure across committees (and members) nitter.net/NewsLambert/status/210…

Reflexivity in market structure: Previously - admin does something dumb, stocks puke, trump TACOs in response, stocks go back up. Or: inflation high - we know FOMC hikes, curve flattens - LT rates stay contained. Neither of these paths are clear anymore.

I am quite surprised we haven't gotten a TACO of some sort yet. I guess we will have to see real economic damage. No one is going to sell equities because we all know Trump TACOs -5%?
Oil execs say the big energy crisis is here and the BofA fund manager survey says only 6% of people think it's the biggest risk lmao. I guess we'll find out

Finally a positive supply shock that's needed for the parents of young kids.
Production in China has shot up 25-fold since 2010. In 2021, China overtook the U.S. as the world’s top blueberry grower, and by 2025 its annual production was double what it was in the U.S. wsj.com/business/driscolls-b…

I admit that I am biased to want to see AI Capex spending fall off a cliff. I am curious about whether we can really blame high inflation on the Capex "supply shock".

The thing about the current discourse is that no one trusts Sam, Dario or Elon to tell the truth or be honest about their real motives. Real progress!
