This is adaptive reuse done right. A century-old waterfront cannery in Alameda was transformed into 372 apartments while preserving much of the historic brick industrial architecture. And now? The apartments are 96% occupied. The retail is starting to follow. Highwire Coffee + LuxFit have signed on for the ground-floor commercial space, helping turn what was once an old industrial site into an actual mixed-use neighborhood. I love the old brick walls, massive industrial windows, heavy timber, open-air courtyards. Then add hundreds of residents, shops, coffee, fitness, and public waterfront access.
