Possibly the most remarkable fact about cognitive inequality in America: On the SAT, Asian kids whose parents DID NOT FINISH HIGH SCHOOL crush black kids whose parents HAVE PHDs — outscoring them by 100 points.

This remarkable fact is a function of two things: (1) Grossly unequal group IQ distribution curves, and (2) PhDs earned by blacks being diminished by affirmative action admissions and less cognitively-demanding subject areas. Also significant: There's a larger Asian-white gap at the highest parental education levels than there is a white-black gap.

No one is more relentless at making sure their children can read by the age of three and do advanced math by 5 than Asian parents who were not lucky enough to get a solid education.

What do the black kids' parents have PHD's in? That's an important data point. if they have a doctorate in feminist Basketweaving theory, vs, oh, Nuclear physics, it might explain some stuff.

The huge growth in the United States of very high scoring Asians over the last two generations makes it ever harder for African-Americans (descendants of American slaves) to earn cognitively elite positions meritocratically. This has implications for abolishing affirmative action

Do kids report their parents' level of education when they take the SAT? Do we have any way of knowing if kids are telling the truth when they say, for instance, that their parents have PhDs?

How much of this could be explained by black parents’ PhDs being in "easier" fields? I’d be curious to see the results for the children of black parents who have PhDs in STEM. Even though this would also probably be affected by the initial unfair admissions criteria.

> cognitive inequality Note how these shitlibs reframe everything as an inequality as if its someone's fault that nature gave Asians and Whites higher IQ than blacks. They do this to justify government intervention and steal money from Whites to "equalize" the situation.

This is why DEI is so evil. It rejects basic intellectual competence as "white culture" & so disable black youth who otherwise could be trained to be competent intellectuals like everyone else.

They reject "objective, rational linear thinking" as "White Culture" and so disable their youth who otherwise could be trained to be competent intellectuals like everyone else. They're destroying their own youth by denying them a basic education.

This is the math question of the Chinese university entrance examination. If you want to prove your intelligence, you can try it. The maximum score is 150 and the time limit is 2 hours.

Perhaps doing the paperwork to immigrate to America from Asia without a high school diploma a more difficult academic achievement than getting a PHD as a black American.

My East European mom who escaped communism in the late 60s, would quiz me on capital cities, spelling, math, and reading. She was relentless on education. I went to school w/ all that knowledge. I think Asian parents are the same. They don't wait around for the school to educate.

And this is with affirmative action scoring to help the blacks and browns. When you apply to take the SAT they ask for your race. They should not do that, but they want to help the dark races. This has two effects: the obvious one, but also it means lots of non-black students call themselves black to get the AA scoring and that boosts the black scores too. As dismal as black scores are, the reality is even worse.

The flaw in this dataset and virtually all others that quantify education, is treating every subset with in degree level as equivalent. Example - A PhD in history is not equivalent to a PhD in physics. On top of that….the treatment of the trades or certifications such as paramedics…

We’re born to study. The Chinese, under 2000 years of Confucian oppression, selectively bred for intelligence. Becoming a scholarly bureaucrat to serve the emperor or chairman is the ultimate achievement for any Chinese man.

One might argue that PhD's themselves are a negative indicator in African Americans, vs other education levels for African Americans, because of the weighting of subject matter to useless or fantasy fields?

Because the Asian kids' parents are immigrants. I'm sure that Asians who were born in the U.S., and didn't finish high school, pass on low-IQ genes to their children.

Preliminary evidence suggests a real test-score gap between multi-generation Black Americans and more recent African immigrant-origin students. That points toward the legacy of U.S. policies of slavery, Jim Crow, segregation, and exclusion not race aloneas part of the explanation

Genetics and culture are importantly variables. Especially when there’s a greater than 20 IQ point base difference. It’s actually closer to 30 despite the attempts to obfuscate the lower IQ

Screwed heavily by the fact that Asians who come to America are drawn originally from the very best of Asia... meaning that they already have the highest IQ dna that Asia can produce.

Anyone got graphics that depict the fields in which assorted races in America are overrepresented? For example, East Asian Americans are overly represented in medicine and STEM research/engineering, black Americans are overly represented in pro athletics, military service, popular music, and acting, Indian Americans are overrepped in software engineering and chief executive management, etc. (I'm not sure what fields are dominated by whites, but presumably there are some. Agriculture? Construction? Flying aircraft?)

You can predict this using group IQ scores and the known g-loading of the SAT EXCEPT the Asian gap re: everyone else, which is larger than would be predicted. Obviously culture at work.

Why bother going to college, let alone getting a PhD, when the answer is already on Grok? Unless you are so intellectually curious that you love a subject enough to master it, skip college and do something more useful. Only experts will be needed in the future; my own Master's degree is obsolete. Most PhDs are obsolete as well.

I wonder about the extent to which the Asian group includes people whose parents went to school in another country, but not US high school. Sometimes these questions make it seem like they're just asking about US education

This is likely NOT racial cognitive inequality. Most Asian cultures are ingrained with education as the path to socio-economic mobility. Non-college educated Asian immigrants who made it to the US are highly skewed to wanting the American Dream with the roadmap to use education to achieve it for their children. The mainstream media narrative that a college degree is synonymous with intelligence is also wrong. If you analyze SAT performance by race only for parents with STEM PhDs, you will end up with a different answer.

It’s not cognitive. It’s cultural. An uneducated Asian family will gut their children if they come home with Bs on their report cards.
