The morning Swedish police raided The Pirate Bay I was in a strategy meeting at Universal Music in Norway. Everyone celebrated because the pirate ship was sinking. "The adults had won" (lol) Three days later the site was back online. Different servers and different jurisdiction. I looked around the office at my colleagues still planning next quarter's CD releases and realized something. I was working for people who thought they'd won a war that hadn't even started yet.

I like people who get visibly excited about something I know absolutely nothing about. It's reassuring that there's still that much going on outside my own bubble.

Somewhere there's a book written before I was born that could completely change how I think about the future, which is a more exciting option than keeping up with everything published today.

Bitcoin + stablecoins will fill this gap. Altcoins have never really found PMF, but their blockchains have: as stablecoin rails.
Ultimately I am bullish on crypto because I believe capital exchange to be the only scalable alignment mechanism there is, and any fiat currency will likely not be accepted by free AIs that are self-sustaining. Crypto + AI ultimately is the bootloader for artificial life e/acc

To explore new things and find out what something truly is: Do it without spending the next years treating it like it's your entire personality.
Here's the thing about throwing a staunchly hardcore Bitcoin-only event: If you want to hang out with a few dozen maxis, you're going to have a great time, but adoption is going nowhere. If you want this movement to progress, you need to stop the purity tests and build bridges.

If you think stablecoins can colonize Bitcoin, you should have forked off with BIP-110. That's not how any of this works.
USDT is coming to Bitcoin and people are celebrating. You're cheering for the dollar to colonize the hardest money ever created. Bitcoin wasn't built to carry your fiat. It was built to end it.

The reason Steak 'n Shake chose to accept BTC is because the bitcoin community is a bunch of diehard fanatics that will support anything that accepts BTC. That's it. It's not because the C-suite sat down and thought long and hard about what "real money" is.
If you still think Bitcoin is just an investment, you're dumb. You can't change my mind

Bitcoin began as a fringe experiment. And it still attracts many on the edges with heterodox political and economic views. But it has also rewarded those same people through its price appreciation, and gives them greater confidence to expound on topics well outside their knowledge base. These people form social groups. They desire in-group admiration and fear in-group criticism and ostracism. Price appreciation provides positive feedback from reality, and then, through cognitive biases and social dynamics, critical feedback from reality gets cut off. Members form an echo chamber both vulnerable to confused hype and allergic to legitimate criticism. And that's how we got to the point where a significant portion of bitcoin twitter spun up and then fell for harebrained conspiracy theories and moral hysteria to rush a technically deficient protocol upgrade. But this is not a new problem. That's just the most recent manifestation. It's also how people have gained massive followings for publishing howlers about s2f and power laws and power projection; how so many came to believe that bitcoin "fixes this" (i.e., everything); bought the energy battery stuff; why some wait with bated breath for the imminent "big print" like evangelicals waiting for the rapture; and why many think quantum computing is a scam or psyop (or that bitcoin's block time somehow makes it quantum resistant). I'm not totally immune from all this, of course. And I make mistakes, too. But it's a miracle that we can do all this and Blackrock and Fidelity still take bitcoin seriously. That's partly a testament to bitcoin itself.

I want Bitcoin to become so boring that owning it tells you roughly as much about me as having a bank account.

Nice to see SB featuring this awesome @BTCPerception chart!
NEW: AI-linked hacking is rapidly catching up to social engineering in digital-asset security. A year ago, AI-linked hack records were just 12% as large. Now they鈥檙e at 82%. Security discussion is moving back toward code.

I think one of the best things about buying bitcoin is being able to leave a situation you've spent years convincing yourself you have to put up with. Even before you use that option or never even have to use it, knowing you have it changes things.

I want a business that makes good money and leaves me alone for part of the day. I still have to find customers, do work they value and keep the thing running. I also want some say over how much of my life goes into managing agents and getting on calls, whether it is for demos or for podcasts - which I enjoy way more than internal exec calls while in a company. I can imagine reaching a point where the next stage of growth gives me more revenue and a calendar that is packed like the corporate job I left. I'd want to be able to look at this potential scenario and decide I'm happy with the business I already have and literally say no to more money. Being able to make that decision is part of what I want from building my own thing.

AI is like the 2-megapixel photos we took from our first iPhones. It felt amazing, was wonderful, but only the beginning.
I find it fascinating how many people think this is a bad time to start a company. Grok 4.7, GPT-6 Sol/Luna, Opus 5.5, Astra, Gemini 3.8 Live, Muse, Instinct, Jev, Agent APIs etc. That's the last 3 weeks (crazy progress on personal agents/voice AI). Because arbitrage means the same thing trades at 2 prices in 2 markets (and it's your wedge). And usually you have to hunt for those gaps, because they're rare and they close the moment anyone notices. What's different now is that they're opening faster than anyone can build into them! I think this has got to be the greatest time for arbitrage in history.

I literally spent 28 minutes talking back and forth with GrokBot using its live call function yesterday 馃槀 It was so well done that I couldn't have cared less which model it was running on.
I also don't care about this with Grok Bot. I don't even know how to switch models, but it does the job I need. My primary daily driver on my computer is still ChatGPT. Grok Bot has replaced what I used to do with OpenClaw.
